It’s that time of the year when the municipal authorities start rolling up sleeves to counter the menace of mosquito affected diseases. Monsoon is now on the last leg and when it withdraws and the accumulated waters start drying up, the mosquitoes find the conditions conducive to breed exceedingly fast.
Indeed mosquitoes are a recurring problem not only for Kolkata or India, they are for the whole of Southeast Asia as this TNR/AFP video tells us.
Scientists say the dengue virus may have already reached epidemic levels in some countries, and warn that the disease may not be medically prevented or treated. It’s too grave a concern to let go unnoticed.
