(Do you know Durga Puja is just 38 days away? If you don’t, you cannot be blamed. The usual signals are still amiss. The buying spree is hardly there, pandals yet to block roads, puja chadas not yet collected. On the flip side, it’s still raining everyday, potholes are still gaping, school exams very much in vogue.

Yet for all that we care for, the Puja is not far off. If you’re an avid watcher of Star Ananda, you cannot miss noticing Ma Durga’s face at the top left of your screen, alternating with the number of days left to the grand event. Festivals come and go, but very few can compare with Durga Puja in terms of scale, festivity and an acute eagerness to take part. If any Indian festival can claim to cut across all barriers, it must be Durga Puja.
