The time is upon us when many people cannot imagine life without the Internet. I’m not talking about the gen-next who are anyway hooked onto their online lives come sun or rain.
But a majority of the older populace have embraced the net because of one big motivation, which is the ability to earn money.
Yet, for all that matters, Kolkata has not been the superfast communicating city save the Saltlec businesses that have their own high-speed links.
Things are slated to change this October as BSNL, the largest communication provider, is set to increase its broadband backbone from the present ADSL system to VDSL which will allow maximum speed up to 26 Mbps in its internet highway. Read the story here.
The news story also informs that BSNL will partner with PC maker, Novatium Solutions to make available PCs at Rs 7,000 with basic configuration. Consumers need to pay Rs 315 per month for broadband, PC maintenance and a host of value-added services.
Not bad that, but then you need to see the details before they really look attractive.
