As I write this post, I can’t help recalling a cartoon I used in my Nov 29 post (India’s male bloggers). I hadn’t thought it would reflect reality so soon. Have a look:

If you wonder, what’s the matter, here it is. The now-ubiquitous Google has spun a new initiative. It’s giving its free software applications – the word processor, spreadsheet, etc. – to kindergartens, where the tiny-tots are encouraged to do whatever they please online, and the giant Google automatically, repeat automatically, stores away all their small deeds in their data warehouses.
On the way, they come to know that it’s their Google ‘uncle’ who’s helping them do what they did. Read this Dec 3 CNN story by AP.
Great effort that. And a marvelous thinking on part of Google. You can’t but laud that while Microsoft is unable to offer its time-tested desktop wonder-products free, Google is striding ahead with free offer.
Think the cartoon, think again. It’s a strategy that has the hallmark of great thinking written all over it.
For good measure, Google doesn’t allow ads in its programs for the kids. And even as analysts try to decipher as to how will Google ‘make’ money from free offerings, the giant knows it’ll have the last laugh.
It has faith in the saying, only time will tell.
