Why the feast? One reason is obvious. Germany’s Lufthansa re-commences direct Kolkata-Frankfurt flights from Dec 2. And so some amount of publicity is perfectly in order. But perhaps there’s something more.
Apparently, Bayern’s junior team, though crashing out early, liked the city (rather its ‘ambience’) last year. The seniors now want a peep-in. Not bad. We’ll be eager to see them in action, should they ultimately come.
Lufthansa, meanwhile, plans to project Kolkata as a ‘coming boomtown’. The airlines’ director South Asia and general manager, Werner Heesen feels there’s much more to Kolkata, and therefore wants to promote the city as a potential tourist destination.
Don’t we know Kolkata is more than what meets the eye? Doesn’t Kolkata have a lot in store in sharp contrast to many terming it a dying city?
To Lufthansa’s Werner Heesen, the common answer is hopefully a big ‘yes’. Here’s wishing him all the best in his endeavor.
